STATEMENT:
The Assembly State and Local Government Committee reports
favorably Assembly Bill No. 3779.
This bill changes the membership requirements for the board of
trustees of the State Police Retirement System (SPRS). Under the bill,
two members appointed by the Governor will no longer be required to
be private citizens who are neither an active nor retired member of the
system.
The SPRS board of trustees currently consists of two active or
retired members of SPRS, two private citizens appointed by the
Governor, and the State Treasurer. The board of trustees is
responsible for the operations of the SPRS in accordance with current
law and administrative regulations.
As reported by the committee, Assembly Bill No. 3779 is identical
to Senate Bill No. 2810, which was also reported by the committee on
this date.
